About the Program
The Leadership Program is taught and run by Speaker, Mentor, Author, and Coach, Deshawn Fontleroy. The program will run in 8 to 10 weeks cycles. Whether its 8 weeks or 10 weeks, will be predicated on the fall and 7v7 football schedules.
We'll meet 1-2x weekly through Zoom.us. For our athletes that are in the PDX area, they'll meet with us in person if time/traffic permits. When the high school football kids are in-season, we meet 1x weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 8:45pm. I've found this to be very beneficial to my athletes before Friday night contests.
Throughout the program, there will be mandatory reading and assignments leading to round table discussions. We will also interact with the students' parents to help engage them throughout the process.
Some of the measurables will be improved attendance and behavior at school, better grades, positive communication with coaches and parents, and performance.
Outside of that, our goal is to empower the young student-athlete, build self-confidence, and increase positive self-talk. Ultimately, we will help them reach their hopes and dreams, overcome pains and fears, and bust through their personal barriers and limitations.
